A brand new cafe in the city which promotes Gandhiji's philosophy.

Years ago Mahatma Gandhi founded Navjivan trust with a vision to spread knowledge and liberal thoughts amongst the youth of the society. Since then it has been the house of reputes who have published more than 800 titles in English, Gujarati, Hindi and other languages. Managing Trustee Mr. Vivek Desai believes that the people, especially the youths, are hesitant to get associated with Gandhian ideology. There is a need to create an atmosphere by creating new activities where people can easily connect with his thoughts. In line with the same ideology, the trust has initiated Karma café with a moto to promote Bapu’s philosophy.

The ambiance of the café is a perfect blend of the simplicity of Bapu’s life and the contemporary thinking of the present generation. The decor of the café is modest with minimalistic rustic wooden furniture and ample sunlight. The café majorly serves Gujarati snacks like Kheechu, Thepla, Sevmamra and beverages like tea, coffee and fruit juices. The specialty of the café is the daily special menu and the fixed Gujarati Thali on the weekend. Everything served here is organic and chemical free.

Apart from this home alike food, the café has a library with a collection of more than 2000 books and complete literature written by Mahatma Gandhi. You can pick any book of your choice and indulge into reading while sipping in a hot cup of Masala Chai. The café also has an adjoining art gallery that portrays the life and struggle of Mahatma Gandhi and an in-house Khadi store.

Reviving Bapu’s idea of freedom, the café does not follow the bill system and encourages the customers to pay at their will. Visit to this café will truly leave you with a sense of freedom and you would definitely turn your head around with a promise to come back.

Timings: 12 PM to 9PM.
