Daawat-e-Ishq: Movie Review

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Though I am in my thirties but the opening lines of this review may sound like I am a teenager who has just developed his longing for Bollywood actors. Well, that’s not factual but I just can’t help it as I am a die-hard fan of Parineeti Chopra. This girl’s screen presence, always smiling and charming face, full of life attitude, her acting and probably everything is just so mesmerizing that you will watch a movie just for her.

Bringing rationality to my review and lowering down my excitement for Parineeti let me tell you that Daawat E Ishq is not a thoroughly entertaining flick to watch but it surely is a time killing one. You can easily spend your 2 plus hours without getting bored or watching your watch all the time. Needless to say that it has a predictable storyline as Bollywood hardly brings you a variety in this area. The backdrop of Hyderabad, Hyderabadi accent, charming Parineeta, few twists and turns, couple of one liners and a nice chemistry between the lead actors definitely makes you feel a bit of newness in the movie.

Daawat or food is just for the name sake. Food has no relevance except that Aditya Roy Kapur is an owner of a famous food joint. The story is about Gulrez (Parineeti Chopra) who is fed up of dowry problems. She along with her daddy cool (Anupam Kher) plan to dupe Taru (Aditya Roy Kapur). But as expected Gulrez forgets her plan and slowly starts falling in love with Tariq. The story then follows with couple of twists. Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti have done a decent job as far as their chemistry and acting goes and as usual Anupam Kher was brilliant in whatever footage he got in the flick. I am not a big fan of its music; but they have ensured that it’s not overloaded to walk you out for buying additional popcorn. It’s a complete family movie – can be watched with parents and kids - doesn’t have any abusive words, or kissing or skin show-off scenes.

All in all, if you have already watched Bey Yaar, you have nothing else to do but take this up. Surely a time killer.

2.5 shors from us.
