Master Chef winner, Shipra Khanna, opens up a resto in AhmedabadFoodies, here is a question for All of you- Which is Your absolute favorite cooking reality show? I am sure Master Chef India is the first one that comes to everyone’s mind. Well, do you remember who the winner was in Season 2? Yes, you guessed it right, Shipra Khanna.We have a surprise for all of you; Shipra has started her first restaurant, House of Taste, in Ahmedabad! Shipra is from Shimla but she researched about Gujarati people’s love for the food and decided to start her first restaurant here. She says, “Gujaratis are food aficionados who don’t mind splurging on good food and my new restaurant is set to offer exquisite appetizers to soothe their taste buds and seduce them to visit the place again and again.”

Let’s do the food talk now. The food at HOT is unusual to say the least. They serve a plethora of exotic cuisines with authentic traditional Indian varieties to International delicacies in an affordable price range.

First of all we tried two very unique soups called Corn Cappuccino and Cucumber
Mint Gazpacho. Not only the names are different, the soups are different and everyone should try them. Coffee comes to mind when we talk about Cappuccino, but soup? And Cucumber Mint Gazpacho, it’s a cold soup, yes Cold!

For starter, we had Mayane-e-kebab, Paneer Malai Tikka, Creamy Broccoli, Dahi ke Kebab and Hat-rick platter (French fries with three different combinations chilly, garlic and mixed herbs). Shipra said that these all were her experiments but they turned out so well that she had to put them in the menu.

We also had Classic Lasagne and it was truly amazing too. We would definitely say that after trying HOT’s Lasagne, you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else because it’s just perfect there. This doesn’t end here.

For main course we tried two sabzis Panner Bahar and Dum Aloo with Rumali Roti, dal makhani and jeera rice. The taste of everything here is perfect. As Shipra says, “I haven’t made anything over spicy; it kills the taste.” Every dish here is with proper authentic taste and less spicy which will make you a fan of the food.
What’s lunch without dessert? We tried her Blueberry cheese cake and Phirni on the Rock. Did you know about Phirni on the Rock? It tastes like Kheer and is a special dish from Kashmir. So you can have a feel of Kashmiri dessert in our own Ahmedabad city.House of Taste by Shipra Khanna opens on 12th September.
