Movie Review - GHOSTBUSTERS

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Paul Feig
Cast:  Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth

As they say, don’t judge a book by its cover; likewise don’t judge a movie by its trailer. Ghostbusters is a prime example of this.  Even though the trailer was unfunny, the movie keeps you laughing at every 10 minutes, well at least till the last action sequence. Warning: Be careful while eating your popcorn, as the hilarious jokes may make you choke on them!

The story revolves around Physicist Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) on the brink of reaching great heights in her career when her past resurfaces. The book named ‘Ghosts from the Past: Literally and Figuratively ‘resurfaces, it is the book she co-wrote with her spirit-chaser school friend Abby. The book causes her to lose her job and get back to her early interest & Abby who still follows her vocation. Abby is now very much into her profession and has the company of a brilliant Tech specialist Jilian Holtzmann , who makes super awesome gadgets to fight against the supernatural nasties.

These professional Ghostbusters get a nice office and hire a suave looking but ridiculously dumb Kevin (Chris Hemsworth) who for the love of God cannot even answer a phone call properly. He is good at just one thing – looking hot!  As the trio embarks on their quest to fight against ghosts and trap them in cylindrical boxes, the media portrays them as fraud group of ladies just trying to get some attention.  Abby remains unaffected by the negative publicity and focused on the job. Meanwhile Patty Tolan ( LeslieJones) joins the team after having a freak incident with a ghost at the subway. She happens to meet a psychopath people-hater who is hell bent on merging the supernatural world and the human world. As the story goes on, you witness excellent swag and perpetual comedy along with some crazy action sequences.

Overall the movie is a fabulous piece of work and an absolute must watch!
3.5 Shors out of 5!
