Sequels have indeed become a stereotype off late as to how they aren't half as good as their prequels; let alone living upto the audience's expectations.
Take Marvel Studio's movies for that matter:
Avengers 2? Bleh
Iron Man 2? Bleh
X-Men 'N'? Bleh
But, somewhere, somehow, someone absolutely nailed the sequel to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!

What also makes me appreciate the movie even more so is the ensemble cast of a team of unknown oddballs. You have a talking raccoon who hates being referred as the same, a green woman with daddy issues, a buffoon of a man with his own sob story, a living tree who knows 3 words and of course the goofy guy from "Parks and Recreation"; all locked in an inter galactic space adventure.
What could go wrong?

Luckily for us? Absolutely nothing. The movie has everything that would make it a blockbuster, and we quite literally mean it!
From the stellar use of CGI, making for phenomenal action sequences to brilliant humour placed even in the most serious situations; add a few emotional revelations and of course Stan Lee's cameo. Top it off with the use of "Awesome Mixtape #2" to heighten humor or add pathos; it does pack a solid punch.
And who can forget the ever-so-adorable baby Groot, that can melt in the most stone-hearted folks with ease.

Talking about the crux of the movie; well, it somehow boils down to a very simple notion of 'reuniting families', in a good and a bad way both. At one end, Peter Quill is in search for his long lost father, while this relationship with Yondu takes a new turn; at the other end you have Gamora and Nebula facing off (yet again).
As Peter unravels the mystery behind his father, it leads to a whole whirlwind of repercussions that our Guardians face; which they have to overcome albeit all the hurdles that raised by the Ravagers, an alien race of 'Golden' people (why?) and of course a monstrous 'Ego'!

The first Guardians indeed the set the bar extremely high but, I find it hard to believe that Vol. 2 surely matches the same with equal gusto; making for a fun and thoroughly Marvel-lous experience for which I give the motion picture 4 Shors on 5. Cheers.
