Movie Review - Mohenjo Daro

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Ashutosh Gowariker
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi, and Arunoday Singh.

Gather all the knowledge that you have of the ancient civilization of Mohenjo-daro, cumulate it and toss it on the way to the cinema when you go for Mohenjo Daro for, hardly anything is factual. Add onto that the overly dramatization of regular human behaviour, couple it up with nonsensical songs propping out of nowhere in 2016 BC, and voila! You have an instant lullaby to help you doze off, or a greatly justified reason to pop a Crocin.

Fact of the day: Centuries before the birth of Christ, women had the luxury of getting their eyebrows done to a lovely arch, and manicure their hands.
Ignore the reasoning voices in your head; simply enjoy the visual spectacle and appreciate the perfect Pooja Hegde. Oh la la!

You also have your local Hercules in the form of Hrithik Roshan, who can of course kill an alligator by plunging a rod in it's head. Did we tell you that he is an indigo farmer by profession?
All the traits of trending video in this age - "Simpleton farmer kills a croc with a single blow!". Followed by a presence in the Big Boss house, and commercials for Whey Protein.

Anywho, onto what the director deems to be the story of the film - Sarman (Hrithik Roshan), comes down to Mohenjo daro for trading. Falls for the priest's daughter, Channi (Pooja Hegde); and finally gets in a tiff with the *yaaaaaaaaaawn* bad guys.
Subtlety has never been a hurdle for Ashutosh Gowariker’s fertile imagination for, right from falling in love at the first sight, with no words being exchanged, to exchanging blows. Hardly any connect with the real world.

With a pack of flab of my own, I may not be the right person to comment on someone's body but, Hrithik Roshan's muscles do the talking for him for, that is all that is to him in the movie. A throbbing vein on the left? "Ooooooo. I love you so much". A throbbing vein on the right? "Ooooooo. I am hungry". Cheeks shaking? "Ooooooo. I am pissed". Talking about showing subtlety the door.

Too much ranting against the movie, I feel? Well, it isn't 'all that bad' though. At the end of the charade, good does trump over evil (yaaayy). While Kabir Bedi, and Arunoday Singh snarl away at the smallest of sequences, the times they keep mum; it makes for quite a sequence. Pooja Hegde does a decent job but, of course the spotlight is all on Hrithik Roshan; and despite his splutters, you end up simply getting habituated to it all.

While I rate the movie 1 Shor on 5; I can't really reason with myself as to why even the 1 for, you definitely aren’t going to be any smarter watching it. Cheers.
