Movie Review - Neerja

Attributes: Movie Reviews

While many were injured, they did survive, in no small part due to the actions of Neerja Bhanot, a 22-year-old flight attendant who chose compassion over cowardice and performed her duty till the very end.

Neerja is a well made movie with a very powerful plot, good cast, melodious music and horrible camera work. I, not being Sonam Kapoor's biggest fan (Thats the kindest  I could phrase it) went to this movie with no expectations from her whatsoever. Surprise surprise, she pulled off a stunner! In what's easily her best ever Bollywood performance, she portrayed the role of Neerja with poise. There isn't a single actor whom I can point out as underperforming.

The movie starts with below par dialogues, irritating enough to make you go to the washroom even if you didn't want to. As it progresses, things get much better because the director had to bring the plot in at some point of time. The latter half of the movie is absolutely brilliant. Brilliant acting, brilliant audio effects, and all in all an edge-of-the-seat drama. The climax is very well shot, quite literally with a lot of gunfire to witness.

The end is bound to leave you teary-eyed and proud of the heroics of Neerja Bhanot the youngest person and the only woman to be awarded Ashok Chakra, India's highest honour for valour.
Neerja is the movie to watch this weekend, I guarantee that you won't return disappointed. 4 Shors for this movie!
