Movie Review - Star Trek: Beyond

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Justin Lin
Cast:  Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella.

The USS enterprise crew explore the corners of the uncharted space in search of knowing more about the universe, but find themselves in the midst of uncharted space fighting a new enemy, Krall.  Now if you have watched the other parts you will truly love the references to the past, but in our opinions it wasn’t as good as the prequels.

A surprise outer space attack in  uncharted space forces the enterprise to head over to Nebula to save the people stranded there, only to be trapped by the same attack and crash land on a mysterious planet. The new enemy is the Krall, a lizard like human who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims which he captures during the attacks.  Captain Kirk with what’s left of his crew set out on a journey to save the crew, meanwhile Krall is in search of a the last missing piece of a very powerful weapon, which coincidentally is in possession with the crew of the USS enterprise.

There are also background stories going on with Spock and the captain, which does create a lot of depth to the story. What really took us back is the final battle, now we always know the good side always wins and while there is no surprise there this story does have a one of a kind way of ending the movies, and all we can say is we have never enjoyed sabotage so much before; making us rate the movie 3.5 Shors on 5.
