Movie Review: DILWALE

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Rohit Shetty

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon

The story is about the children of two competing Mafia families; enter Meera (Kajol) and Raj (Shah Rukh Khan). A chance meeting in Bulgaria leads to these two falling in love when a major twist changes everything and they’re forced to go separate ways. PREDICTABLY their respective younger siblings Ishita (Kriti Sanon) and Veer (Varun Dhawan) too end up falling in love with each other, oblivious of the past. That’s when the past of SRK of Kajol, who now live in Goa, comes back to haunt them.  What happens next makes up the rest of the plot…

Unexpected from a Rohit Shetty movie, this one has lots of drama, action, romance and comedy. Although the script seems very predictable and clichéd in most parts, Dilwale will be enjoyed by those who like masala Bollywood movies! With scenes ‘inspired’ by a Hollywood movie like Love Actually and also the series HIMYM, what truly steals the show is the SRK-Kajol pairing.

Performace wise SRK is the true king! Kajol surprisingly has a shorter role than expected. Varun Dhawan isn’t remarkable but definitely has a good comic timing. Kriti Sanon is just there to look pretty…A very good performance comes from Sanjay Mishra who plays Oscar!

The breath-taking locales in Gerua truly leave one mesmerised. Besides Daayre, the other songs seem well-paced but nothing extra-ordinary. The background theme though deserves a special mention! One of the best part of the movie comes right at the end as a scene between SRK and Kajol…
