Review:

Jab Harry Met Sejal is a film that makes you wonder why a filmmaker like Imtiaz Ali who is known for his unusual films give in to clichés like this one which is nothing more than a predictable abyss. He tried to explore and define love in a new way but ended up giving a movie with the most conventional storyline.

Storyline:

“Shah Rukh Khan (Harry) is a tour guide who is forced to accompany Anushka Sharma (Sejal) after she loses her engagement ring on a tour to Amsterdam which makes her fiance pissed about it.  They go to all the places she had visited during her trip to find the ring. How this journey to look for a lost ring, turns into a trip of self-discovery for both the protagonists, is what Jab Harry Met Sejal all about.”

This ‘romantic comedy about finding love and discovering oneself’ lacks the flashes of ideational, experiential and tonal originality that make us remember those earlier films. You can never forget the Sufi spirit of Ali's previous sublime Rockstar or sparkle of Geet’s character in ‘Jab we met’.

The film too contains many beautiful thoughts like 'Home is a Person'. But you really wish the script went beyond these one-liners and took us on a unique journey like that of Geet and Jordan instead of a foreseeable Europe tour.

As far as the performances are concerned, Bollywood’s 51-year-old superstar SRK's return to conventional lover boy terrain does not yield the likely magic. Anushka, in the costume of a chirpy young girl looking for a lost engagement ring, provides fuel to this 'repeated whimsy' only for a while. The chemistry between actors is not crackling for sure and there’s not much for the actors to hold on to in the story.

'Jab Harry Met Sejal' is shot in several picturesque locations of Prague, Berlin, Holland, and Amsterdam. So, while you are lost wondering where the movie is heading, the scenic beauty keeps you hooked.

Overall, if you are a fan of the leading actors or want to watch ‘a movie cliché that just won’t die’, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is the movie for you!

This one gets only 2.5 Shors from my side!!
