Movie Review: Kong Skull Island

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Jordan Vogt- Roberts
Cast: Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly
After being mesmerised by the monster of an ape in 2005; the might KONG come forth and revives the same feeling.
One of the best bits? You get to witness the new Kong in the first two minutes of the film and let me tell, he is simply glorious; and bigger than he ever has been with a whisk of gentleness to his face, making you side with Team Kong from the start.
The movie which is set in the year 1973, just after the USA abandons the war with Vietnam starts with gung-ho conspiracy theorist Bill Randa (John Goodman) persuading the country to discover what may very well be the last uncharted piece of land on the face of the planet, before Russia does so.
And off we have, a time of mixed bunch of people on an expedition that includes a Bristish agent James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston), an 'antiwar' photographer Mason Weaver (Brie Larson), her associate Houston Brooks (Corey Hawkins) and an unnecessarily fussy U.S. military commander Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson).
One can pretty much figure out that what they undergo once the reach the island and it is surely  nothing short of 'havoc'.
For the ones who might state that the movie comes across as more monster driven than character driven; let me remind you that the movie is and should be all about Kong. And if you still think that 'character' is important enouh for you then, they indeed have given a lot more depth to his character; which  really makes you sympathize the poor creature.
While the movie may not be as great as the previous one, it is surely worth a watch for, which I give it 3 Shors on 5.
(P.S. - Bare through the credits at the end for, it leaves a teensy 'hint')
