Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh Sparkle!

Cast- Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma, Mehreen Pirzada

Old and modern Punjab, a compelling storyline and an able starcast. Anushka Sharma’s second production venture hits the right spots yet again!

The story rolls up with Kanan(Suraj Sharma) gets to Amritsar from Canada for his wedding. He is reluctant for the wedding, and as per a tradition, he needs to get married to a tree before he ties the knot with Anu(Mehreen).

Too many faults in his stars!

With the tree, Kanan ends up marrying Shashi, the ghost played by Anushka Sharma. We are then treated to a parallel narration of Anushka’s love story with Roop Singh, enacted by Diljit, and Kanan's frazzled dealing with both the ghost and the bride to be.

While the first half is gripping and engaging leaving less to guess, the second half gradually sags midway, and without you realising it, a bit of an irate boredom seeps in. But Anushka's prowess as a natural actor and Diljit's intense yet subtle performance brings you out of it very soon!

The highlight of the movie is the tight script, which flits over between two different eras with equal ease, and some amazing chemistry between the lead pair.

A bit of editing at the end, and we would have had a spectacle for ourselves.

But nothing away, Phillauri is a really good watch. A different cinema. Sparks of unique Indian cinema!

3shors out of 5 !!

The plot, though overly complicated in the telling, is actually quite simple. Educate
