Director – Ribhu Dasgupta

Cast - Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vidya Balan, Padmavati Rao, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty

The story is based on the Korean thriller ‘Montage’. The story revolves around the life of John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) who seems to be on an unending quest for justice for his beloved grand-daughter Angela, who he lost 8 years ago in a kidnapping incident.

The world seems to have moved on but John Biswas is determined as a rock to find the kidnapper of his beloved granddaughter.  He visits the police station every day expecting some development on his case but he is ridiculed and ignored every day. Soon he decides to take matters in his own hands.

John Biswas asks for help from the cop who was working on his case 8 years ago, Martin Das (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who has now left the police force to become a priest.

One day, there is another kidnapping that bears uncanny resemblance with Angela’s case.  Sarita Sarkar ( Vidya Balan), the headstrong cop requests for help from Father Martin who although initially hesitant,  gets pulled into the investigation, while John conducts his own parallel investigation on Angela’s case, desperately looking for clues,

All the performances in the movie are quite at par and suitable for the genre of thriller. The movie is reminiscent of 'Kahaani' and is executed on the same lines. However, the direction is a bit rusty. Moreover, re-adapting a Korean Movie in the Indian context has been challenging and this one does not quite hit it right. Just like Kahaani, it wonderfully potrays the busy life of Kolkata. Amitabh's performance as a grandfather trying to find closure and doing everything he can to find Angela’s kidnapper is note-worthy. Vidya Balan's performance does not offer anything new but she sticks to her brand. Nawazuddin's character is hard to digest as a priest but he does a decent job.

This suspense thriller boasts of spectacular performances by the ‘Terrific Teen’, the gripping plot and an equally relevant background score makes the movie intriguing. Although the plot is unpredictable at the end you might be left wanting a bit more from the plot.
