The Equalizer: Movie Review

Attributes: Movie Reviews

Director: Antoine Fuqua
Cast: Denzel Washington, Chloë Grace Moretz, Marton Csokas, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo.

With every passing moment of the movie, you get all the more engrossed. The movie grows on you and Danziel Washington leaves you screaming for more.
The brilliance of Denzel Washington is evident from the portrayal of the character ROBERT McCall. Robert has a mysterious past and is now living a quite life making a living for himself. His past has been dark, violent and at some point in time Robert has done something that he is not proud about, but what is it?. In the present, he is nothing of what he was to be. He lives a quiet and lonely life. Works at a local store and earns his living. Things are boring, until he meets “Teri”, played by Chloë Grace Moretz ,a beautiful young Russian girl. And when things go bad for Elina, Robert has to choose between punishing those who are guilty or turn a cold shoulder and ignore the situation.
Why do we call Danziel Washington brilliant is because in portrayal of his character as Robert, he never goes overboard. He measures every emotion and every word. Every time Danziel is on the screen there is this aura of mystery that surrounds him. You know him, but do you? Although through the movie, you might be tempted to draw a parallel between the plot of The Equalizer and movies like Taxi Driver, Takken and many other quite man turns hero kind of movies, but what differs is, Danziel Washington.
About the director, Antoine Fuqua, he has done a brilliant job. Some of the scenes are amazingly captured. The relationship between Robert and Teri, an underage hooker is beautifully and sensitively captured. During one of the scenes, the villain is shown taking to his super boss over the phone about Robert. Many a sequences of the movie are pure magic and spellbinding.
Overall we give THE EQUALIZER 3.5 shors. Its surely a must watch but then beware, it does give you a crash course at abuses. So if you planning on taking a kid, we would suggest you to drop the idea of taking them along.
