Dosa, the humble food from down south enjoys significant popularity across the country. Time and again, people experiment with it, try to deconstruct it, or try to create something new out of it. One such new eatery experimenting with dosas has come up on Vasna Road that offers an extensive range of dosas, some of which are even trademarked. Merging different cuisines and preferences of people Dosa Plaza has something for everybody. Even if you are not into seeing noodles and cheese sticking out of your dosa, this eatery still has something delicious to offer you.

It opens up early at 9 AM, ready to offer a healthy breakfast to all. They have combos that come with their range of mocktails too. They offer varieties of sada dosas, traditional masala dosas, combination masala dosas, Chinese fusion dosas, chopsuey dosas, Russian salad dosas, Mexican style dosas, Mexican uttappas, healthy uttappas, etc. apart from the usual idlis and wadas. They also have a spread of beverages – hot & cold.

I settled in to order a medu wada, and a maharaja masala dosa; finishing it up with a filter coffee at last. The food is freshly prepared and comes piping hot on the table. The medu wada were soft and crispy. Mildly spiced, accompanied with sambar and coconut chutney. One plate had two wadas, and the sambar is served separately. If you like the wadas soaking in the sambar, you need to request it beforehand.

The Maharaja Masala Dosa, has a tomato base. The potato bhaji is cooked in a tomato gravy, and has bit of juicy paneer in it. This comes accompanied with sambar, coconut chutney and a tomato-onion chutney. It feel different and yet familiar, and is quite delicious. For someone who is not experimenting all out, this one is quite perfect.

Last, but not the least, the filter coffee. It was steaming hot, served in a steel cup inside a steel bowl. I had to let it cool a bit before I could sip it. But it was awesome. A great finish to a good satisfying meal, the filter coffee was nicely brewed.

Overall, the Dosa Plaza is quite economically prized and would ensure you have fun exploring some quirky dosas. It is not a fine dine place, but rather a small restaurant with a different kind of offering.

The ambiance is good, as is the service. The attendants make sure you have water in your glass and ask you if you need more sambar or chutney when they see the bowls close to being empty.

Give yourself a South Indian treat on that note then!
