Rush to Scenic Yelagiri for a Stress-Busting Trek

Attributes: Adventure, Hill Station, Around the City

Browsing through all the ideas what to do this long weekend? Get your shoes on and get one with nature by going on a beautiful trek. An easy four-hour drive from Bangalore is set the divine hill station ‘ Yelagiri’. With angelic beauty through the route, you’ll appreciate reaching the destination even more.

‘Yelagiri’ is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu and is a house of various waterfalls, temples, and treks. The beauty of going on a trek lies in experiencing the nature first-hand, the way itself holds so many marvels that the destination seems like a cherry on the cake.

The trail that we want you to take through is the one at ‘Swamimalai Hills’. It’s a great one if you are planning a day trip with your friends and want to spend quality time with nature. Covered mostly in mists once you reach the top you could actually experience being amidst the clouds and it’s blissful beyond explanation.

The starting point of the trek is a small village by the name of ‘Mangalam’, with an easily known temple and you can reach there by a smooth drive.

The trek is not a very tiring one but is definitely steep and is in nature’s rawest form.  There is a combination of muddy paths, uneven stone stairs and steep climbing of rocks. You can assuredly stop in the way to do some ‘Nature Photography’ or just to get soaked in the view. It takes about 1.5 hrs to reach the top and you could find some uber cool aunties selling ‘buttermilk’, ‘starfruits’and the yummiest ‘Guavas’. Do stop and try having a conversation with them! Oh, it will be fun.

The intimacy you experience with the silence of nature on reaching the top is not measurable in words. Cool breeze, view of lush green trees and a vast expanse of beauty, you could sit there for hours. Though the viewpoint does justice to the ‘Trek’, you could go a bit further onto the trek amidst the hills, though there is no proper trail for the way, you could sit on the rocks and try to fathom how soothing a view can be.

There is also a temple atop which you could explore within nature’s lap. Relaxing, short treks are perfect for a weekend; and try to gain as much inspiration from nature as you can to make your week a better one!

So, get your trekking shoes on, and lose yourself in nature this weekend.
