Mumbai’s iconic dessert place is now Delhi’s own. Theobroma, the 12-year-old Parsi marvel that opened in Colaba and has created waves since then, has made its way to Delhi. The first outlet was in Cyber Hub, Gurgaon and the second in DLF Mall of India, but it is the one-week-old outlet in SDA market, that is attracting the Delhi crowd.

Honestly, you are at a total loss once you enter the small patisserie. The light blue walls painted with pink chandeliers and flying macaroons compete with neatly arranged colourful cakes, for attention. First up is the Chicken and Cheese Patty and Vegetable Quiche. The patty, albeit a bit oily, is the perfect brunch material. The cheese and chicken stuffed inside flaky puff pastry oozes out as you cut into it. For 50 bucks, it is the perfect deal. The vegetable quiche satisfies even the meat lover. Mushrooms, cheese, bell peppers and olives melt in your mouth with a burst of flavours. I wouldn’t recommend ordering both as it can be slightly heavy on the tummy.

Get a cold coffee to wash it all down. With a tint of chocolate and not too much sugar, the drink is ideal on a warm day. For dessert, try the Red Velvet Cup Cake for sure. The cream cheese topping is heavenly. If you are health conscious, try the Baked Yoghurt with mango pulp topping. This is seasonal and real fruit pulp is used. A cup of it is enough to shake you up. The Opium Cake as it is rightly called is chocolate heaven. The sponge layers are alternated with chocolate cream, and is a best seller.

If you have do not have any appetite left, pack up some macaroons, handcrafted chocolates or some pound cake for later. You will not be disappointed.
