Attributes: Religious, Around the City, Unusual Travel Places in India, Religious

This Shiva temple in Rajasthan is an unexplored shrine built in the late 10th century on a secluded hill near the Sariska National Park. It’s known for the wonderfully portrayed idol sculptures of lord Shiva and many interesting erotic sculptures that have awed generations of people.

The temple remains isolated and only the determined worshippers of Shiva will cross the rough track that leads to this architectural haven. The temple has faced destruction in the past but still remains intact with the power of lord Shiva, it’s a spell binding experience to stumble upon these ruins amidst the fabulously green landscapes.

The temple has number of sculptures depicting lord Shiva, Narasimha, divinities and explicit erotic sculptures. The divine sculptures are a tribute to itself, embodying everything that is sublime and spontaneous about it. The erotic sculptures can be found on the outside of temple showing passionate interactions between humans.

A little from the Neelkanth Temple is Digambar Jain temple with a huge statue of the Tirthankara Shantinatha, known as Naugaza.
