BUGGED BY DHOLAKS? HEAD TO THIS INDIE HOUSE CONCERT TOMORROW

Attributes: Movie Reviews, Others

Ganesh Chaturthi is upon us and decibel levels will only increase as the week of celebrations draws nearer. For those of us who need a respite from the reverberating sounds of dholaks and taals, House Concert Mumbai is organizing Session number 5 of their indie music house concert series on 26th August. Head over to Santa Cruz East this Saturday for an evening of music punctuated by an authentic indie sound.

This session will be unique in that all artists will perform solo with only their instruments and your cheers to help them along. As always, entry is limited by the venue’s capacity of about 30 people so RSVP here if you plan on attending.

HCM brings to the fore not just music but indie films as well. Gotya is a short film by Devansh Mathur which will be screened before the concert begins. The film has won accolades at international film festivals. The story follows a young house-help by the name of Gotya who loves cycling and is looking for a buddy to accompany him on his rides. The 15-minute film is a refreshing take on friendship and the people we leave behind.

Movies will be followed by music and first up will be Thomas Albert whose presence in the Mumbai live scene is undermined only by his brilliance as a songwriter. Hop aboard if you need an evening of melodious, soulful music.

Next will be Aaron Sequeira, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Mumbai who was featured in Rolling Stone India just last week. Touted as one of the best under-25 artists in the country, Aaron has a knack for writing songs that are easily relatable.

House Concert Mumbai is a public initiative that is funded by you, the music lovers of Mumbai. A donation of ₹300-500 is what you pay for an evening of positive vibes. Post dated cheques aren’t accepted but cash and Paytm just might do the trick.
