Camp Under the Stars with BBQ, Bonfire & more this Weekend!

Attributes: Weekend Getaway, Around the City

Wanting to escape the hustle bustle of the city and my 9 to 5 job, I was looking for options to chill over the weekend with a group of friends. Tired of the monotonous club hopping and binge eating I wanted to try something new when I came to know about Band Camp.

Camping under the stars with fairy lights and an intimate group of friends tapping your feet to live music or watching classic movies old school style on a projector, add to it a beautiful bonfire and scrumptious barbeque dishes – Sounds too perfect to be true? Well, I just had this too good to be true experience last weekend at White Colar Hippie’s Bandcamp.

Band Camp is located on a hillock in the coastal town of Uttan in Bhayander. It is the perfect weekend getaway from Mumbai. The drive will take you around 2 hours. Surrounded by stunning sea views and lush greenery, it is the perfect place for a natural camping experience, closer to home.

Each camper is provided a sleeping bag to sleep in their tents. The camp site is well planned and there is ample space in between each tent so that you don’t have to compromise on your privacy. The tents were clean and to my surprise so were the washrooms, which is the main concern in such places.

The camp is a one-night event where you check in at 4:00 pm and check out the next day at 12 pm. At your check in, the staff members greet you and give you a tour of the camp site. You are also provided with your camping kit which includes amenities like mosquito repellent, a small torch, and some other essentials. The camp site is loaded with multitudes of activities to keep one entertained. Along with a huge collection of books, they have a lot of indoor games like Jenga and Ludo, they also have a spacious ground that includes a volleyball court. We were just lazing amidst the greenery and enjoying the breeze on the many hammocks, having significant discussions like which Maggi tastes better soupy or dry!

As the sun set, the place began to transform from a lazy campsite to some Indie-pop music concert venue! Lanterns and fairy-lights surrounded us as the fellow campers began to settle around a bonfire. From classic Bollywood tunes to new indie songs, the live bands indulge in the music of all sorts on Saturday evenings. Movies for Friday nights are chosen from a wide array of movie genres. The amphitheater is the perfect setting to sit under the stars and relish live music or the movie screenings. For the barbecue, you’re presented with options of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Dinner consists of a delicious meal cooked by a local family.

There is also a 20-minute long sunset walk organized by the staff which takes you to the top of the hill to catch the spectacular sunset against the beautiful silhouette accompanied by the sound of crashing waves.
If you are looking for a complete Boho experience - sleeping under the stars, building a bonfire, listening to live indie music, catching up on classic movies with steaming hot barbecues and dreamy fairy lights, Band Camp is the perfect place for you!
