All those who have visited Goa know what it’s like to enjoy a drink or two while admiring the scenic beauty along the coast of Vagator from a cliff. Yes, we’re talking about the ever so beautiful restaurant Thalassa, which means ‘the sea’ in Greek. Recently this famous restaurant opened its first ever branch in Mumbai and although we were expecting a picturesque view of the ocean from this one as well, it did not fail to impress us with its unique charm.

Every corner of this blue and white restaurant has been beautifully designed to take you away from the fast and crowded life of a metropolitan city and put you amidst a slow paced relaxed environment. No matter what time of the day you decide to visit, the interiors, décor, food and music are sure you to remind you of Greece. Located in one of those quiet areas of Khar Danda, this is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful lunch or dinner with your loved ones on weekends.

Famous for its Greek cuisine, this one too sticks to a blend of traditional and modern Greek cuisine. From Gyros to Saganaki and Souvlaki it offers everything you need to satisfy all your food cravings. We ordered Fried Calamari, Chicken Saganaki (the waiter was courteous enough to suggest and prepare a chicken version for us) and Spaghetti in Cheese sauce. Although a little overpriced the food did not disappoint us even a bit, the portions were heavy and filling and everything was made and served to perfection. The Fried Calamari served with cream cheese was a complete show stealer for me. Whether you decide to order one of their fancy cocktails or your regular drink, you will be spoilt for choices.

If you wish to experience true Greek flavors at a place that has actually brought a piece of Greece in Mumbai, minus the sunsets and sand then Thalassa is the place to be!
