Pep Up Your Appetite With a Meal at this Greek Themed Eatery

Nestled in the Shimpoli Road area at Borivali West is this beautiful restaurant, Mezzo Veg Lounge. Its blue and white Greek themed interiors clubbed with a classy combination of embellishments in and around the seating area is the most inviting part of the deal. If you're one like me who digs stellar interiors with antique decor pieces, Mezzo is a restaurant you must visit in the suburban area. It bumps up my appetite by 25%.

The restaurant is divided into two eating spaces, the air conditioned area and the lawn-style area. The roof is replaced by upside-down umbrellas which reflect the light coming in making it a much brighter yet cozy space.

Talking about the food, I like my Masala Papads crisp ad that's how I was served. However, the Fresh Lime Soda lacked fizz. I asked the staff to replace with a fizzier and much colder one, to which they happily obliged and catered. (Thumbs up)

I had asked to replace the Farfalle pasta with Penne for the Alfredo Pasta. It tasted pretty decent and mild for my preference. Having said that, my colleague did go gaga over the pasta.

The Paneer chilly we ordered was a Yay! for me. The paneer was perfectly soft and well-coated with sauces. My worst nightmare would be if the veggies became soggy, which fortunately didn't happen here. The dish was a hit in it's entirety.

The Dragon rice was suggested by the manager himself when we asked him to advise us on his best chinese-rice dish. It was served in two bowls- one had the rice and the other had the gravy part of the dish. I cannot gush enough about the rice, it was mind blowing. But the gravy didn't do much for me. It was well-to-do but didn't contribute much to the already-perfect rice.

The Peri Peri Paneer Pizza at Mezzo is your classic pizza-next-door topped with capsicum, olives and onions. Although it didn't make my taste buds dance, it wasn't even nearly disappointing. It was mild and you could adjust it your tastes with seasonings, yes, but after the Dragon Rice, Mezzo upped their food game and I'd expect nearly that much for the rest of the dishes as well.

The Electric Shock is a popular mocktail at Mezzo. It has a spectacular presentation and it served its much-elevated expectations.

For dessert, we stuck to one portion of Sizzling Brownie. I wouldn't say it's one of their specialties, but it does taste pretty damn good.

We did have a complimentary dessert by the restaurant that is yet to be introduced in the menu, so it didn't have a name. It was a bunch of waffle-y sticks topped with chocolate sauce and sprinkles. What I loved about the dish is that everybody on the table can conveniently have each waffle-stick to themselves without any hassles. The waffle was crisp and the desert received a thumbs-up from our table in the form of an empty plate within minutes of arrival.

We were ordering for 4 adults and two kids and the portions of dishes we ordered had very well sufficed. So the quantity of a dish served at Mezzo is the average portion you'd prudently expect.

The staff was quite hospitable. The indoor seating area gets noisy when it's packed, but you can't blame the management for that. Also, I'd imagine it would get a bit warm to sit in the lawn-area seating.

Mezzo does have a few hits and but no misses. Even the dishes I liked the least were all above average. The service was good, but it might be delayed in peak hours which is expected.

All in all, you must try the Electric Shock, Paneer Chilly and Dragon Rice whenever you plan to visit Mezzo.
