Enjoy an Adventurous Weekend at the Cave Resort - Guhantara

Attributes: Unusual Travel Places in India, Adventure, Hill Station, Must Visit Places

The weekend is here and that for the ones who plan on stepping out can surely make their way down to GUHANTARA CAVE RESORT.

Driving through the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, it took us close to an hour to reach Guhantara, passing by narrow village lanes and innocent populace. We paved our way through the cave-like portico to the reception desk for registrations. As our bookings were done in advance, it didn’t take much time with the proceedings and we walked through the underground tunnel to the huge auditorium overlooking a waterfall. A welcome drink to quench our thirst and we hopped from one rock step to the other, posing and clicking. Done with the first round of photo session, we headed straight for the outdoor activities.

We started with ‘Zorb Ball’ that had two of us strapped inside a huge ball and rolled over grass. It was bumpy and hilarious, having yourself roll over the ground. This was followed by ‘Paint Ball’ and I agree it was terrible to have those balls hit against the body but fun to make similar marks on your friends as well.

Lined up were a string of adventure sports such as wall climbing, zip line, trampoline, and bull ride. Though all of us didn’t opt for each one of them, we did try our hands at a few. This apart, we indulged in quad bike rides on the rough terrain neatly sketched out by the organizers and archery.

For the not-so-adventurous lot, Guhantara has a string of indoor activities such as badminton, table tennis, carom, chess, volley ball, billiards and the most exciting horse riding. I did try the last and while it was fun to have the horse trot, I was scared when it gained a bit of momentum. Nonetheless, I cherish the few seconds of ‘Warrior’ feel enjoyed.

Tired with all the physical activities, our stomachs called out for some quick lunch before we set upon our plans for the next half of the day. Served at 1 PM in the auditorium, the team had a buffet on offer that catered to the taste buds of both vegans and non-vegetarians. Starved as we all were, we gorged on the food, preparing ourselves for the rain dance scheduled at 2.30 PM.

The dining area itself was converted into the dance floor with the crowd shaking a limb to foot-tapping music. A quick change and we were pulling each other under the sprinkles (that gave the rain effect), grooving to the beats. Drenched as we were, we headed to the swimming pool for a splash in the cold water. This was ultimate fun, as we took dives and danced to the DJ’s tunes.

Dripping from head to toe, we made our way to the changing rooms lest the cold ruined the remaining part of our fun day. The rooms are a little inadequate compared to the huge crowd visiting the resort.

A quick dry-out and we dragged ourselves to the refreshment area for some knick-knacks before leaving for our way back home. Water brings out the pain and we could now sense the cramps in each part of our body. A farewell photo session and by dusk we bid adieu to a day well spent in the company of friends, fun, and adventure.
