Wondering where the popular Appa of ‘Khi-Ka’ fame from Deccan Gymkhana has disappeared? Miss being served by those familiar faces and starting your morning with piping hot Matar Usal or Wada Sambhar? If nostalgia just got the better of you, we have good news. The legend has moved to the heart of the city, near Omkareshwar Temple, Shanivar Peth. From the menu to the people, everything about this iconic joint is the same, only now with a better place!  Located opposite the Dhobi Ghat, we love the new quaint location that really adds to the Puneri experience of eating their super yummy food…

If you haven’t had the fortunate chance to visit Appa and try the iconic dishes served, let us be the lucky ones to introduce you. Over 50 years old, this place is an integral part of Pune’s food heritage. Their menu is a compilation of classic must-haves like Matar Usal, Batata Wada, Wada Sambhar and the exemplary Khichdi-Kakadi amongst other things. When we say we’ve not had better tasting sambhar or that the chutney served with the batata wada is simply lip-smacking, we mean every word. You’ve got to try the food to know just how good it is and what contentment really means. For those of you who are regulars and lovers of the place, the food has just gotten better than it already was. Trust us, we tried.

Whether it’s living up to your usual tradition or the curiosity to eat food that’s nothing like you’ve tried before, here’s where to go.
