Travel back in time at the Pune Heritage Festival 2017

There’s a lot that Pune has to offer. From being the Oxford of the East to one of the fastest growing cities in India, Pune has always been on the world map for a variety of reasons. There are numerous stories that glorify the city. Pune Heritage Festival is like a book full of stories that put light on the heritage that became the foundation of past, present and future of the city.

The theme for the year is Pune, A Confluence of Cultures. The 6th edition of Pune Heritage Festival starts from the 3rd February till 12th February. The festival will bring people of all ages on a common platform and celebrate the invaluable confluence of history, nature and culture of Pune. Last 5 years have witnessed a good amount of people from all walks of life. This year aims to be bigger as people from both local and international communities is confirmed.

A total of 55 events planned. These include heritage walks, workshops, nature trails, lectures, film screenings, exhibitions, bus tours and quiz. One can be a part of any or all the following events:

-The first of its kind fusion event ‘Music of Pune: Djembe- Gondhal-Mardani Khel’ at Amanora Mall
- River Heritage Cycle Ride 
- ‘Jajwallaya Abhimaan’ Pune Quiz 
- A special tour of the only surviving black & white film lab in FTII heritage walk
- Film Screenings on natural heritage & Nature trails – tree walks, bat spotting, bird walks etc.
- Special tour of Bharat Gayan Samaj to appreciate Music Legacy of Pune
- Treks to Bhorigir-Bhimashankar and Bhor
- Textile exhibition at SNDT
- Ancient Manuscripts exhibition and special Paper Conservation workshop at BORI
- Special tour of Botanical Survey of India with workshop on Herbarium
- Lecture series on natural heritage – ‘Devrai..ek samruddha warsa; 'Maharashtrachi Olakh - Dagdanchya Desha'; ‘Pune wa parisaratil naisargik warsa’.
- Workshops on ancient scripts – Modi, Brahmi and Persian, recycle tradition, creative writing on travel and cuisine, art revival of lost traditions.
The festival aims to bring back a sense of belonging through people participation. It will be a history lesson to make people fall in love with the cornerstones that the city proudly stands on.
